CUSTOM DECORATOR and UNREALISTIC COLORS

This division is open to any model (equine) that has been customized to an unrealistic or decorator color.  This includes plastic, resin, and china/ceramic. We will be happy to split classes if needed, we would love to be overwhelmed by entries!   These classes are judged on workmanship and earn yellow NAN cards.  No championship for this division.

Classic/traditional scale - based on Breyer classic scale and larger

Mini - anything smaller than Breyer classic scale, includes Little Bits, Pebbles, Chips, Stablemates, etc.

Fantasy equine - NOT a NAN -qualifying class - for unicorns, pegasi, other equine-based mythical creatures.

NOVICE/AMATEUR WORKMANSHIP

We are offering a new division this year, to promote new artists’ work.

This division is for customs and resins finished by novice/amateur artists.   Anyone may enter a horse, but the horse must have been finished by an artist whose work has not won NAN cards or championships in open classes. The original mold/resin is not to be judged (unless customizing has been done to it).

The finish work is what is being judged, and will earn yellow NAN cards.

No championship for this division.

Novice - the artist's work has never won a NAN card or championship in any open class/show

Amateur - the artist's work may have won a NAN card, but the artist has never sold their work

Maiden Workmanship - the artist's work has never won a NAN card in workmanship (may have won in breed            classes) - two classes:

         -Traditional/classic scale

OVERALL PERFORMANCE DIVISION GRAND AND RESERVE

GENERAL INFO AND RULES - please read!!

Doors will open at 8 am for set-up, judging will begin at 9 am.

No smoking or alcohol is allowed in the show hall.

Well behaved children are welcome, but please be considerate of your fellow hobbyists.  Please keep your children near you and under control at all times.  Parents will be held responsible for any damage caused by their children.

Class limits:  NO class limits!  Please only bring what you can manage.  This is a large show with many divisions running at the same time.  Please do not expect the show to wait for you.  One breed class per horse, please.

Tags:  Each model should be tagged with a white string tag.  Please type or write legibly.  One side of the tag should have the model’s name, breed, and gender and your Colorado shower number.  NO owner name or initials, please.   Use only one side of the tag, tags will NOT be turned over.  This saves time and the possibility of bumping and knocking over horses.

If you do not have a Colorado shower number, please contact Heather Roell at RedlineRanch@gmail.com.  She will assign a number to you.  These numbers are kept in a database and are good from year to year.  They are being used at most (or all) Colorado shows.

Please place the model in the judging ring with the written side of the tag facing up.

Explanation card/documentation is highly recommended for unusual or rare breeds or colors.

Explanation card or info is REQUIRED in the OF Decorator Division.  These models are judged on collectibility.  You are encouraged to bring any “accessories” the horse came with, such as tack, rider, etc (for example:  Breyer Christmas horses). On your info/explanation card, please include any/all info you can, such as the name of model, year(s) produced, number of models produced, etc.  You may bring a COA (certificate of authenticity) or any documentation that came with the model. If this is not possible/available, a 3 x 5 index card is fine.  You may look up your model in reference books or on the Stone Horse Reference Website (www.stonehorseref.com), for example.  If you do not know what your horse is, please write that down. Include any info you do have, such as when and where you got the model, etc.   Maybe someone can identify the horse for you!

Mini divisions - for this show, the definition of mini is anything smaller than Breyer classic scale (it does not include classics).   This does NOT mean it is limited to Breyers, it is just a size/scale reference.  Stone Pebbles and Chips would be considered minis, and are certainly welcome.

Breakable or unsteady models may be laid on a towel, bubble wrap, or felt square, etc.  Please keep the padding to a minimum size needed to protect the model. Laying a horse on its side gives the judge permission to pick up the model to examine the other side.  If you do not want the judge to pick up your horse, please put a note by the horse or talk to the judge before the start of the class.  Remember, laying a model on its side implies permission for the judge to pick up the model.

No setups (doll handlers, sand arenas, etc) will be allowed in halter classes, due to space and time limitations.

Horses may wear a breed-appropriate halter, but these will not necessarily be given preference in judging.  Be aware that ill-fitting or inappropriate halters may actually count against the horse.

Please refrain from talking to the judges while they are judging.  The judges will be happy to explain their placings after the class if you ask nicely. Judges’ decisions are final. Please be polite and remember that you are paying for their opinion (even if you don‘t agree with it).

NEVER touch or pick up a model without the owner’s explicit permission.  In addition, please be aware of your surroundings.  Accidents do happen, but be careful so you aren’t the cause of one. If you break or damage an item on someone else’s table, be prepared to pay for it.

Unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment of judges and/or show staff, or offensive behavior or language will NOT be tolerated.  Anyone exhibiting these behaviors will be ejected from the show hall without a refund.

An original finish (OF) model is a model manufactured by a factory and that is in its original state.  Models may be repaired or restored to their original state, but keep in mind that a judge may penalize any visible repairs at his/her discretion. Major alterations will disqualify a model from the Original Finish divisions.  Such alterations include, but are not limited to:  added gloss on eyes, hooves, or any other part of the model; added, “improved” , or altered markings; or any substance applied to change or enhance the original color or texture of the model.  Any of these alterations will disqualify a model from competing in the OF divisions and require it to be shown as a Custom.

OF China horses must be cast, fired, and finished by a factory/company.  China models which have been physically altered from regular runs (that is, one of a

kind horses based on regular molds but altered in clay body or custom-glazed) must be shown as Custom Glaze.

Custom Glazes are china and ceramic models that have been altered in clay body and/or painted a color other than the factory or production run color.  Custom Glazes must be fired in a kiln.  Cold painted (not fired) chinas and ceramics show in Custom (with customized plastic models).

This show is a NAMHSA member show!  This means that any horse placing 1st or 2nd is eligible to enter NAN (North American Nationals) in 2010 or 2011.

Classes will be placed 1st thru 6th.  Placings will be awarded with paper ribbons.

Champ/reserve and Grand Champ/reserve will receive certificates, designed and printed by our very own Teresa Buzzell.

Judges/showholders reserve the right to split, combine, or cancel classes as they deem necessary.
