My judging philosophy is based on not only my real horse experience and my art background, but also my strong science background. I have a BS in Biology with strength in Anatomy and Physiology; I look for correct ABCs first (Anatomy, Biomechanics and Conformation) when judging halter classes. I have studied equine anatomy and color genetics as well as breed standards for many years now and am constantly learning more. I want to see meticulous prep work; a clean, neat entry; and I always encourage documentation- it shows that the entrant has done their homework.

"I basically grew up in the hobby, starting as a preteen and never abandoning the "silly toy horses" like many through high school or college. I got my first Breyer model in 1997, start painting models in 1998 at my first BreyerFest, and have been actively showing halter since 1999. Most of my small collection consists of artists resins, with the very occasional custom plastic CM or OF china horse. In 2003 I judged my first novice divisions, and I've been hooked on judging ever since - in fact, as I tell my hobby friends, at most shows I'd almost rather be judging than showing! It's a constant learning process for me and I am always focused on the utmost in realism in all the ABCs and the finest of workmanship."

As a hobbyist and artist, I dabble in a bit of everything. I collect vintage, rare, and oddball Breyers, Hartlands, chinas, the occassional Stone Horse, and resins and customs by a variety of artists.

In terms of OFs, I enjoy judging regular halter classes as well as collectibility. When I judge the former, I pin my classes based on the ABCs (anatomy, biomechanics, and conformation) as well as breed standards and correct color. I hold resins and customs to the same standards, but also factor in prepping and workmanship.
